Starting age in Europe’s most successful countries is SEVEN

Central_Europe_(Geographie_universelle,_1927)The most recent overall summary of educational achievement by PISA was issued in 2013: Five of the highest performing western countries – Liechtenstein, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland and Finland – have a school starting age of seven.

In 2015, OECD collated overall rankings in maths and science: the three top performing western countries were Finland, Estonia and Switzerland.

The next PISA survey takes place in 2015 and the results will be published in 2016.
